No Kings.

No Kings Day is nationwide, nonviolent day of action scheduled for October 18, 2025, aimed at defending democratic norms and

rejecting authoritarianism.

Purpose and Significance

No Kings Day is a movement that stands against the glorification of authoritarian displays and the erosion of democratic values. It emphasizes that power resides with the people, not with a singular authority. The day is intended to promote unity among citizens from diverse backgrounds, encouraging them to collectively oppose threats to democracy. The slogan "In America, we don’t do kings" encapsulates the movement's core message, advocating for a government that is accountable to its citizens rather than dominated by a single ruler or authoritarian figure.

The phrase “No Kings” is pointed reference to America’s founding rejection of monarchy — rebuke to what protesters see as Trump’s
consolidation of power.

Today was a beautiful day. It was a day of nonviolent protest. I took a much needed mental health day. I got a new tattoo to honor my cats. I played Galaga and Pinball for a better part of the morning. I explored the City of Detroit.

If I could offer up one piece of advice to you today, let it be: when you feel like you are starting to doubt yourself, take a day to do whatever you want. Do things that set your soul on fire. Do things that make you happy and bring you peace. Show yourself the same love that you pour into others. Do you, boo. Much deserved.
